About Us

After spending over 25 years in new product development across multiple industries, Articulum was created in 2024 by Martin Moonie to develop a range of brands/products linked by a desire for creativity. The name Articulum was chosen as derived from Latin as “Little Art” and indicates that something is turned around the hand – with reference to the artist or the carpenter.

The first purchase by Articulum was the Calder Furniture assets based in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire. Their experienced team designed and manufactured a wide range of dining tables, benches and desks – all the wooden elements being prepared and manufactured in the workshop. The key aspect of the business was to offer customers handcrafted furniture with a wide range of customisable options from size, material, style, upholstery and colour/stain.

The future plan from Articulum is to continue the existing Calder Furniture products, promote garden furniture and focus on creating new products which inspire customers to enhance their living environments. The goal of Articulum is to play an active part in developing great new products with a nod to the strong design and manufacturing heritage in Yorkshire. Wood is such a versatile and tactile material with endless possibilities to create products that are functional and visually desirable.
